How To See Dr. Handelman

Dr. Handelman is only able to accept referrals from Physicians practicing medicine
in the province of Ontario. Your doctor has to fill out the referral form, which is found here.

Dr. Handelman provides psychiatric consultation only. He is not able to provide ongoing follow up, due to the high patient care loads of the hospital – including the inpatient unit and the on call roster.

Geographic Catchment: Referrals are only accepted for patients who live in the following areas: Peel Region, Dufferin Region or Etobicoke (in the area of  William Osler). If  the patient lives in another region – i.e. Halton (Georgetown), Vaughn (Woodbridge), etc – The referral will be refused; and it may take 1-3 months for my office to get back to your doctor personally about it.

Psychiatric consultations are performed with children and teenagers - aged 16
and younger.

Adults with suspected ADHD may be sent for an ADHD assessment. These slots are limited, and my office will communicate with your doctor if we will be able to accept your referral.

Individuals aged 17 years or older with other primary concerns will not be seen.

Dr. Handelman does not provide telephone consultation or telephone appointments.

To start the referral process, please have your doctor fill out this referral form and fax it to my office at: 905-796-4158.

Legal/Court/Custody Assessments: Medical-legal, Custody and Access and so called “Court Ordered” assessments are not provided.
